Set to the song playing the moment we met, this video traces our journey from coast to coast, across continents, and back to Zilker Park, where it all began, so Ryan could ask Anna to be his wife. How We met
In October 2023, Anna was in the middle of her last semester in nursing school in Houston when she visited Austin for it's signature music festival, ACL, at Zilker Park. On Saturday afternoon, she went looking for her sister, Allena, who was at another stage, in another throng of 10,000 people. She found her at the Bob Moses set, above the sea of people, enjoying the concert on her fiancé (now husband) Daniel’s shoulders.The moment Anna walked up, one of Allena’s friends, Ryan – someone she’d never formally met – turned around and offered to lift her onto his shoulders so the sisters could share the view together.Neither of them knew it yet, but this was the moment they met the person they’d marry. (Actual photo from this moment captured & at the bottom of this page)After a song on Ryan's shoulders, Anna climbed down, and by the time the next song was over, she was gone, having slipped back into the crowd to regroup with her friends and enjoy the rest of ACL. But when the day wound down, Anna wanted to see her sister again and joined her at the after-party. That’s when Ryan approached her – and revealed he was the one who had lifted her up earlier that day.While the two felt an immediate chemistry, at the time, Anna’s focus was on finishing nursing school and not falling head over heels for a guy she’d just met. Anna told Ryan, rather insistently, that they could reconnect in January, once she had her degree and had moved to Austin to start her career.Ryan had other plans. Undeterred and persistent, he called Anna every day, flew & drove to Houston to visit her, talked his employer out of relocating him to the Bay Area in 2024, & made sure Anna knew exactly how much he wanted to be with her. Precisely 8 days into their 'relationship,' on a long-distance phone call, while Anna was home studying for an exam, Ryan asked her: "So, what are we?", hoping she would answer 'dating.' She brushed it off & continued her studies.Within that next week, it became apparent they were perfect for each other — and they said "I love you."As was written, Anna moved to Austin. The two became inseparable and haven’t looked back. Ryan showed Anna the world – and eventually brought her back to Zilker Park, where their story began, to ask her to be his wife.
